What drives Michelle to push for a Calgary where there is Enough for All

Through my undergraduate degree in microbiology, I had an early fascination with the health inequities that persist in our country – even with all our advances in medicine and health care. This led me to pursue graduate studies in public health and gain a deep appreciation for the social determinants and dimensions of health, which continue to motivate my work in social policy.
I have had the incredible fortune to work for amazing organizations in Calgary, with dedicated people who work tirelessly to help children, youth, families and women get ahead in systems that are failing them. These experiences continue to drive and shape my passion for systems change, grounding me in a deep commitment to centring the lived experiences of poverty, through intersectional and equity lenses.
Having lived in Calgary for ten years now, I have come to learn and appreciate the generosity and wealth of community spirit that exists in our city. This vibrancy inspires me every day to continue the work of pushing for a Calgary where there is Enough for All.
